Let’s Put God Over Gossip

As I watched the funeral of Prince Philip, I felt an honest pang in my soul. It was one that made me realize the Royal Family are first and foremost PEOPLE. ‘Why do we always gossip over these people? ‘ I thought to myself. I also realized the Royal Family honored the 99 year old Duke of Edinburgh with a funeral mass because they turned to God, as any family would, in this time of grief. Yet, the networks would rather have shown the family over the words of the Bible and that’s what fired me up the most yesterday.

The Royal Family are looking to God. God brought Prince Harry back and broke the ice between him and his brother Prince William. That was GOD’s doing in a time where everyone else miles away from Buckingham Palace would rather fill tabloids with speculation about Megxit. The fact that the Queen and Prince Philip were married 67 years meant they not only committed to themselves but the moral grounding of commitment to God to love each other was obviously present.

Divorce is such a gossip topic also, and it shouldn’t be. People always speculate on celebrity divorces, instead of praying for them and asking why maybe one of them could not stay committed to the vows they make in His house.

Many also bemoan the idea about how sideways society has gotten yet still give ratings to networks that put Gossip over the Gospel. Let’s put the Gospel and put God over Gossip.

If networks so choose to run the funeral yesterday, then I believe these same networks should full-on advocate for pastors that have been struggling to get through to their congregation amidst the lockdown. These networks should highlight Churches who benefit the community not just on Sunday but EVERY DAY!

These networks should stop putting God in the backseat in general and then wonder why evil exists! Maybe it’s because material has taken over the spiritual and we must reverse that tide. It’s not always just the gun, it’s the person’s heart behind that trigger. Anybody who believes they can carry an AK-47 or AR-15 around regular people has evil in their heart. I also happen to believe those weapons should be banned from regular use! Yet, the knee-jerk reaction to focus on the gun and not the human is part of society’s decaying. The gossiping of ‘why’d he/she do it?’ or ‘what’s the motive?’ is just chatter and doesn’t solve the bigger issues of our times.

If God was such a focus for networks as showing glorious St. George Chapel in Windsor, than prove it. Fight the fines of those pastors that have been trying to preach in their own parking lots during the pandemic when it was safe. Argue for less arrests of pastors just trying to reach their congregation the best they can and maybe, just maybe, stop gossiping about those mega-churches!

The Royal Family turned to God to honor Prince Philip. Maybe today is a turning point for all of us think about how it will be God not Gossip that can steer us back in the right direction if we just honored Him in America !
